Danger Signs in Pregnancy Every Mother Should Know
In every hospital setting, nurses and doctors always “sing” about danger signs in pregnancy. We repeat them again and again, not to scare mothers, but because knowing these signs can save lives.
Pregnancy is not an illness, but it is a time when changes happen quickly in a woman’s body. Some signs may look small or harmless, yet they can mean something serious.
That is why every pregnant mother must know the danger signs and seek help.
Vaginal Bleeding
Bleeding at any stage of pregnancy is not normal.
Whether it is light or heavy, painful or painless, it needs medical attention.
Severe Headache
A strong headache that does not go away, especially when combined with dizziness or blurred vision, can be a sign of high blood pressure in pregnancy.
Blurred Vision
Blurry vision, or sudden vision changes is dangerous and should never be ignored.
Sudden Swelling of the Face, Hands, or Feet
Some swelling is normal in pregnancy, but sudden or severe swelling is not.
This can be a warning sign of a serious condition.
Severe or Persistent Vomiting
Vomiting that prevents a mother from eating or drinking can lead to dehydration and harm both mother and baby.
Reduced or No Baby Movements
If the baby is not moving as usual or not moving at all , especially after 28 weeks, the mother should go to the hospital immediately.
Fluid Leaking from the Vagina
Leaking fluid may mean the waters have broken.
Even without pain, hospital assessment is necessary. To prevent infection
Severe Abdominal Pain
Persistent or severe abdominal pain is not normal in pregnancy and requires urgent attention.
A Message to Every Mother
When it comes to pregnancy, it is better to be safe than sorry. Never wait at home hoping the problem will pass. Never feel embarrassed to go to the hospital.
Nurses and doctors repeat these danger signs because early action saves lives, yours and your baby’s. A healthy mother means a healthy baby.
